Assistance in creating a series of documentary videos about Ukrainian women in science, “SCIENTISTS”

The project was implemented with the support of the “Intellectual Capital” Charitable Foundation.

The documentary video series “Naukovytsi” (“Women Scientists”) tells the stories of Ukrainian women who are transforming science — from the depths of the ocean to the molecules of the brain. These are stories of strength, intellect, and inspiration.

At the center of the narrative is 15-year-old Masha, a girl who dreams of dedicating her life to science. She meets with four outstanding scientists to find answers to her questions, experience the path of a woman in STEM, and discover her own direction for growth.

Each film is a distinct story and a vivid dialogue: about discoveries, breaking down stereotypes, the power of education, and the role of women in big science.

Heroines of the series:

• Vita Yefremova, neurobiologist, University of California, Berkeley (USA) — researching stem cells for the treatment of brain diseases.
• Kateryna Terletska, mathematician — L’Oréal Award laureate, studying internal ocean waves.
• Maryna Shkvyrya, zoologist — studies large predators and serves as the chief zoologist of the Kyiv Zoo.
• Oksana Savenko, marine biologist — spent 15 months in Antarctica as the first woman in wintering at “Akademik Vernadsky” in the past 20 years.
