The documentary video series “Naukovytsi” (“Women Scientists”) tells the stories of Ukrainian women who are transforming science — from the depths of the ocean to the molecules of the brain. These are stories of strength, intellect, and inspiration.

At the center of the narrative is 15-year-old Masha, a girl who dreams of dedicating her life to science. She meets with four outstanding scientists to find answers to her questions, experience the path of a woman in STEM, and discover her own direction for growth.

Each film is a distinct story and a vivid dialogue: about discoveries, breaking down stereotypes, the power of education, and the role of women in big science.

Heroines of the series:

Vita Yefremova, neurobiologist, University of California, Berkeley (USA) — researching stem cells for the treatment of brain diseases.

Kateryna Terletska, mathematician — L’Oréal Award laureate, studying internal ocean waves.

Maryna Shkvyrya, zoologist — studies large predators and serves as the chief zoologist of the Kyiv Zoo.

Oksana Savenko, marine biologist — spent 15 months in Antarctica as the first woman in wintering at “Akademik Vernadsky” in the past 20 years.

The seminar lasts about a week. Participants meet in the picturesque Carpathians, where during roundtable discussions they exchange experiences and learn from one another, reflecting on the texts of the world’s most renowned thinkers, while also discovering new perspectives on understanding the world. Leaders from various fields of the economy, public service, politics, culture, arts, media, civil society, science, and beyond take part in the event. The seminar discussions provide practical exposure to new formats of group work that incorporate elements of Socratic text-based dialogue.

The seminars are organized with the support of the “Intellectual Capital” Charitable Foundation.

Since 2015, the Soborna Ukraina Foundation has been caring for the families of soldiers of the 92nd Brigade, Special Operations Forces, and the National Guard. Today, the community supports 1,075 children from 743 families of fallen heroes.

The project provides:

monthly financial assistance (UAH 2,000 for each child up to 21 years old);

psychological support and rehabilitation;

educational opportunities (a tutoring center for Ukrainian, English, mathematics, and history).

In 2022, the “Soborna Ukraina” organization was officially established to systematize aid and expand support programs. New children are admitted if donors are available to provide stable funding.

The Intellectual Capital Charitable Foundation provided financial assistance to the “Soborna Ukraina” Foundation during 2023–2024, supporting families of fallen defenders.

Thanks to this support, “Soborna Ukraina” was able to ensure stable monthly payments to children of fallen soldiers, continue educational and psychological programs, and welcome new families into the community.
